Your senior photo session can be anything you want it to be and there are countless styles and themes to choose from.
Once you decide on the look and feel of your senior photos, you can start planning the finer details, which will include poses. And while your photographer will be there to guide you, it helps to have a few ideas of your own.
Knowing how you might want to pose gives you the chance to practice at home, leaving you feeling more confident on the day.
Here are some poses to keep in mind if you have your heart set on a glam senior shoot.
- Add some movement. If you’ve decided on a glam shoot, chances are you might also be wearing a flowing garment. If this is the case, you should definitely add some movement to a few of your shots. Face yourself away from the camera and turn to face it as the shutter clicks for instant glamour. Even if you aren’t wearing a flowing dress or garment, you can still create this same movement by wearing your hair down.
- The distant stare. Another glam go-to is looking away from the camera. You don’t need to look too far away either – just past your photographer’s shoulder is fine. And if you’re wearing your hair down, try running your fingers through your locks for one or two shots.
- Do something you love. Some of the best senior photos happen when you’re having fun and being yourself. If possible, choose a location that will allow you to engage in something you love. For example, perhaps you’re a dancer. Why not head to your local theatre where you can pose on stage and do a few twirls in a beautiful dress?
- A different angle. Another winning pose for glam-style senior shoots is to simply lay on the ground. This way, your photographer can spread out your hair and your dress to create a glamorous, artistic shot from above.
Now that you have a few ideas for poses, you should feel a little more prepared for your senior session. But if you’re still feeling nervous and unsure, rest assured that Studio One is there to help.
