When should I get my senior portraits taken?

The summer in between your junior and senior year is the best time to have your session. Many local school yearbooks require your yearbook picture to be submitted shortly after your senior year begins. Studio one works with many schools in the area to make sure your portrait meet the yearbook requirements. If you are in fall sports it’s importtant to consider what your schedule will be like after practice starts and get your appointment scheduled early.

Who should I go to for my senior portraits?

At Studio One Kurt will personally photograph your session. No interns or junior photographers. Kurt has 25 years of experience photographing senior portraits and has won many state, national and international awards for his photography. Kurt has been awarded the degree of Master of Photography and Certified Professional Photographer by the Professional Photographers of America. Kurt also teaches advanced portrait photography classes to other working professionals and proctors the exam that certifies professional photographers here in Michigan.

Where should I go for my senior portraits?

Studio One has been created to be the finest portrait studio in the Jackson area. It offers many innovations such as senior albums that are real books, 2 camera rooms with antique props, and state of the art camera and lighting equipment. Want an all white set? Our all white area is almost 20 feet wide so you can fit even your largest props or groups of your friends into your portraits? Are you an athlete? Our locker room set is a great way to display your gear. Don’t worry about blemishes, retouching is included in every package you build that will eliminate most normal skin blemishes. Complex retouching to remove braces, correct glass glare, heavy acne, or other problems is also available at a modest cost. Want to order wallets from lots of different poses? Studio One allows you to build your own package and has no restrictions on how many different poses you order from. In other words, NO POSE CHANGE CHARGES! Want to have ourdoors and indoors sessions? Combine them in a way that works for you. We can even schedule outdoors and indoors on different days so you can have different hairstyles.

How do I make my appointment at Studio One?

Select the sessions you want, and then call 517-782-3974 for your appointment. Sessions fees are paid when you schedule your appointment. That way you can rest assured that your appointment at Studio One is reserved. Session times are limited so please call early to reserve your session time.

Up to 12 completely different poses in 2 outfits, done in traditional styles and backgrounds a mixture of close-up and full length poses. Traditional camera room only. Traditional sessions are 40 minutes long.

Designer
In studio session with lots of different outfits and props. Bring your sports equipment, collections, pets, friends, or most anything else that fits in our studio. Designer sessions are 1 1/2 hours long. Expect to do about 4 outfits or more if you change quickly.

Senior Outdoors Sessions

Downtown
A one hour urban style session on the streets of downtown Jackson.
Wear up to 3 outfits that you can change on the street. Jackson has a very wide variety of buildings and scenes that make for wonderful backgrounds. Studio One has the expertise and equipment to make it happen. Every session is different and tailored to your style.

Up to 2 outfits in beautiful Ella Sharp Park. Make sure you can change in the park. (For example a sweater over a t-shirt)

1 ½ hours long. As many outfits as you wish within the time limit. Extended amounts of time are available for an additional charge. Mileage charges may apply. Most location appointments are scheduled for evening hours to take advantage of better light quality.

Beach

1 ½ hours long
We travel to scenic and famous Grand Haven State Park for your beach session. Transportation from Jackson is provided. Appointments are very limited for this session and a parent or guardian must accompany you. This is a great opportunity for some really unique images. Kurt has years of experience photographing sessions on this beach and will create many images for you an your loved ones to enjoy.

Wedding and Event Coverage Rates

Per hour rate $150.00

Minimum of 4 hours of coverage. Coverage begins with photographer’s arrival for set-up. A mileage charge of 50 cents per mile will be assessed to distances over 20 miles from Jackson, MI. Assistants may be needed depending upon the schedule of the wedding. There will be an additional $50.00 per hour charge if an assistant is required.

Overnight travel

Weddings that require the photographer to stay overnight require that travel expenses are paid by the persons scheduling the wedding photography in advance of the wedding. This includes air fare, automobile travel, hotel or motel expense, and reasonable allowance for meals.

Wedding coverage is paid for in advance of the wedding. We must receive payment in full no later than 30 days prior to your event.

Coverage prices do not include purchasing the images. Images will be made available online thru Collages.net to purchase individually or you may order at the studio.

Studio One offers several different types of albums. Traditional window mat albums, contemporary flush mount albums, and press-printed albums. Selecting an album style and size will affect your album’s price. Our standard album includes a leather cover in sizes 11×14 or 10×10 flush mount design.
